Come check out the IDEA Summit celebrating
INNOVATION, DESIGN, ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND ALTRUISM!
On Tuesday, May 9th, 2023 the Langley School District is excited to celebrate Innovation, Design, Entrepreneurship, and Altruism again for the first time since May 2019! The event will take place at the Langley Events Centre (Building B- Fieldhouse)
This is the 3rd year of the I.D.E.A. Summit and it is BIGGER and BETTER than last time! The Summit is a Celebration of Learning and is designed much like a Fair; each booth run by an individual or team of students that is showcasing a passion project, business plan (and product) or innovative idea on making a POSITIVE change in this world! The students hosting these booths range from grades 4-12. It will be an exciting day providing an opportunity to learn, participate and be inspired by the hard work of these students. For them, it is a PROUD moment where they get to share their project’s journey and achievements.

I.D.E.A. Summit Components
There are four categories of booths:
Market/Socialpreneurism Showcase – where students from grades 4-12 have designed a product, developed its business plan and created samples to sell to you.
The second category of booths is the IDEAX Challenge, where teams of students have been working since January on a real-world challenge to design a future Langley that could exist in 500 years which is environmentally responsible and earth-conscious while honouring what is important to today’s residents! These groups are vying for $20,000 in scholarships and the fierce competition is ON! There are 9 teams in this challenge. DO NOT forget to visit this section at the I.D.E.A. Summit!
The third category of booths is our infamous Capstone Projects. The Capstone Process is a culminating representation of learning that encompasses the Ministry & District Actions Goals to develop: literacy, numeracy and successful transitions for students. “The Langley School District is committed to helping support students to successfully transition from secondary school with dignity, purpose, and a plan for the future”. Come learn from these grade 12 students about their culminating project, presentation, event or performance that allows students the opportunity to consolidate and showcase the learning from their school and life experience into a meaningful and relevant product. Students will use innovation, cross curricular knowledge, and critical thinking skills in an area of interest as the basis for the project, which is applicable to a real world concept.
The final category of booths is school clubs and programs focussing on the ADST Curriculum (Applied Design, Skills and Technology) which features Robotics and more exciting hands-on learning experiences.
